Attack on US embassy in Madrid, suspect arrested
A spokesman for Spanish law enforcement agencies said the Civil Guard had arrested a person accused of throwing a metal object at the US embassy during the celebrations of the national team's victory in the European Football Championship.
"At around 6 a.m. on Tuesday, while the celebrations for our football team's victory were ongoing, a young man threw a metal object at the US embassy building, and as it turned out, he was a criminal involved in two attacks with a knife," the spokesman said.
Last Friday afternoon, in a suburb of Madrid, a man was attacked with a knife, sustaining minor injuries and being taken to hospital for medical care. The police immediately began searching for and arresting the perpetrator.
The same evening, a second stabbing incident occurred, in which a person was seriously injured and the victim was taken to hospital.
