Rare fish found in the depths of the Algerian desert

The "Aphanius sauransis" fish inhabits the Saoura Valley in Bechar, southwest of the country. It is a fish that lives in fresh water. Finding it is considered an "important discovery" given that this type of fish is endangered, and its reappearance will change the future of some marine species that must be scientifically researched to preserve their presence.

“Finding and filming this rare fish did not happen out of nowhere, but is the result of more than ten years of research, because 2003 was the last year it was seen, and a German researcher had previously come to the area and did not find it, and the evidence is that it is included in the red list of threatened aquatic species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature,” said Radwan Taheri, a documentary producer on desert wildlife.
