Iranian state media confirmed the killing of a prominent Iranian nuclear scientist in an airstrike attributed to Israel, targeting a site north of the capital, Tehran, amid a continued escalation in Israeli attacks against Iranian military and nuclear infrastructure over the past week.
Press TV reported that Mohammad Reza Sedighi Saber, who worked on Iran's nuclear weapons program, was killed in the latest in a series of Israeli strikes targeting sensitive sites inside the country, describing the incident as an "assassination," according to CNN.
Prominent Iranian Scientist Assassinated
Saber is a well-known figure in research and military circles and held a senior position in the Iranian Ministry of Defense's SPND Organization, which is responsible for defense research and development projects.

This operation comes as part of a large-scale attack launched by Israel over the past 12 days, targeting Iran's nuclear program, military sites, and missile launch centers, in addition to assassinating several senior scientific and military figures.
Scientists Killed in Iran
According to a report issued by the Council on Foreign Relations, at least 10 Iranian scientists were killed in these strikes, including Fereydoun Abbasi, the former head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, and Amir Hossein Faghihi, the former deputy head of the organization.

Sadiqi Saber had been on the US sanctions list since earlier this year for his association with the Iranian Defense Ministry's SPND organization, which is responsible for defense research and technological development.
According to the US State Department, Saber headed a unit working on explosives-related projects used in nuclear weapons development.
