Iran: No nuclear deal as Trump continues to attack Khamenei

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that if US President Donald Trump is sincere in his desire to reach a nuclear agreement with Iran, he must stop his "inappropriate and unacceptable rhetoric" toward Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

In a post on the X platform on Saturday, Araghchi added: "The complexity and resilience of Iranians is evident in our magnificent carpets, woven through countless hours of hard work and patience. As a people, our fundamental principle is simple and clear: We know our worth, we value our independence, and we will never allow anyone to decide our fate."

He added: "If President Trump is sincere in his desire to reach an agreement, he must put aside his disrespectful and unacceptable rhetoric toward Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei."

Trump attacked Khamenei. He continued: "The great and powerful Iranian people, who showed the world that the Israeli regime had no choice but to turn to (Daddy-America) to avoid our missile strikes, do not accept threats and insults. If illusions lead to greater mistakes, Iran will not hesitate to reveal its true capabilities, which will dispel any illusion about Iran's strength."

Araghchi concluded his post by saying, "Good will breeds good will, and respect breeds respect."

Trump said on Friday that he had saved Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei from what he described as a "horrible and humiliating" death and prevented Israel from carrying out the "largest" attack on Iran.

Trump continued on his own platform, Truth Social: "I saved him [Khamenei] from a very horrible and humiliating death, and he should have said, 'Thank you, President Trump!'"

Trump wrote, "Why would the so-called 'Supreme Leader' of this war-torn country, Ali Khamenei, brazenly and foolishly claim that he won the war with Israel, knowing that his statement was a lie, which it wasn't? As a man of great faith, he is not supposed to lie."

"In fact, in the final act of the war, I asked Israel to turn back a very large group of planes, which were headed directly to Tehran, in search of a big day, perhaps the ultimate knockout blow! Which would have resulted in massive destruction and would have killed many Iranians," he added, adding that it "would have been the largest attack of the war by far."
