A thief who disguised himself as a statue to steal jewelry was arrested
A Polish man was arrested after he pretended to be a mannequin outside a store window before stealing jewelry from the shopping center after it closed, police in Warsaw said.
The police said in their statement, “A 22-year-old young man stood motionless with a bag in his hand, pretending to be a mannequin in front of a store window. In this way, he wanted to avoid being exposed to the cameras.”
Police added that the man robbed a jewelry store as soon as the shopping center closed.
Police said that on another occasion, the thief went to a restaurant to eat, before slipping under the roller blinds at the entrance to the store to change his clothes for new clothes. Then he went back to eating more food. He was eventually spotted by security personnel who called the police.
Police reports also said the man stole from another mall, taking money from the cashier machines and trying to steal other items after the mall closed.
The suspect could face 10 years in prison if convicted of the charges against him, according to the Australian newspaper ABC.
