Israel reveals a plan to reduce the area of Gaza
Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen revealed his country's plan regarding the Gaza Strip and the Hamas movement, in light of the ongoing war between the two parties since October 7.
- The war in Gaza
Israel continues its war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, following the attack launched by the Palestinian movement on Israel at dawn on Saturday, October 7, which resulted in the killing of more than 1,400 Israelis and the capture of at least 200 others, including foreign nationals.
- Civilian casualties
The ongoing Israeli military operation in Gaza resulted in the killing of more than 3,500 Palestinians, the injury of thousands, and the destruction of hundreds of homes, while exacerbating the humanitarian crisis suffered by 2.5 million Palestinians in the Strip.
The hospital in Gaza was subjected to a bloody bombardment, resulting in the death of nearly 500 people and the injury of hundreds, as a result of an Israeli air strike, while Tel Aviv denied responsibility and claimed that it was the Palestinian Jihad movement that bombed the hospital by mistake, which is the narrative adopted by the President’s administration. American Joe Biden too.
- Reducing the area of Gaza
Eli Cohen said, in statements highlighted by the Times of Israel, that with the end of the Israeli military operation, not only will Hamas be eliminated, but the operation will lead to reducing the area of the Gaza Strip, he said.
The Israeli Foreign Minister added, in statements to Army Radio, "Hamas will be eliminated, and the area of Gaza will not be as it is now, but will be reduced."
Military analysts believe that Eli Cohen's statements are in line with the plan of the Israeli Ministry of Defense, which aims to establish a buffer zone in Gaza, in order to better protect the southern Israeli border, and so that the Hamas attack scenario in early October is not repeated.
