The Argentine player was banned for two years after a doping test
Press reports revealed that Argentine Papu Gomez, a player for the Italian team Monza, received a two-year suspension, due to him failing a doping test, which he underwent while he was with his former club, Seville, Spain.
The Spanish network "Relevo" explained that Gomez will be suspended for two years from participating in matches, after a positive test result came in the examination that was conducted in Seville in November 2022, days before the World Cup.
The newspaper indicated that the player took medicine from his children when he was sick after suffering from a bad night’s sleep, without first consulting him with doctors at the Seville Club.
Gomez, 35 years old, joined the Italian team Monza, at the beginning of the current season, on a free transfer, after the end of his contract with his former club, Seville, Spain.
Gomez won the last World Cup title in Qatar in 2022, at the expense of the French team in the final match, on penalties.
