Unprecedented raids on Gaza

As the conflict enters its third week, the Gaza Strip has witnessed unprecedented raids since the outbreak of fighting between Israel and Hamas on October 7th.

Many areas of the besieged Gaza Strip witnessed intense Israeli raids on Monday.

The bombing focused on Jabalia and Beit Lahia in the north, the Central Governorate and Al-Rimal neighborhood, Al-Shati camp in the west, and Khan Yunis and Rafah in the south, according to what the Palestinian News Agency reported.

Millions of lives are in danger

This bombing came as the Gaza Strip suffers from a catastrophic humanitarian situation, with food and medical supplies scarce, and the remaining hospitals suffering as they suffer under the pressure of the influx of wounded and dead bodies, amid Israeli threats and calls to evacuate them.

This prompted the World Health Organization to issue a warning and appeal to secure a permanent corridor for the entry of aid into Gaza.

The organization’s Director-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said in a tweet today on the “X” platform that there is a need for a safe and sustainable corridor for the entry of humanitarian aid.

He added, "Fuel must be allowed to enter Gaza for health facilities and transport trucks. Lives depend on these decisions."

A tragic situation for civilians

In turn, the government media office in Gaza called for the permanent opening of the Rafah crossing and the inauguration of a safe corridor for the entry of humanitarian needs to save the “catastrophic” situation.

He also added in a statement on his Facebook page that the 34 trucks of aid convoys that have arrived in the Gaza Strip so far are “far less than the needs of Gaza, which were entering more than 500 trucks loaded with various daily needs.”

Yesterday, Sunday, the World Health Organization announced the arrival of more aid to the Gaza Strip via Egypt, noting that it will allow surgeries for about 1,300 people, provide basic health services to 100,000 people for three months, and treat 150,000 people with chronic diseases.

Since the outbreak of the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian factions following the surprise attack launched by Hamas on the seventh of this month, the death toll has risen to 4,700, including about 1,900 children and 1,023 women.

While the number of victims during the past twenty-four hours alone reached 400 people.
