English surprise to face Lamine Yamal in Euro 2024 final
The British newspaper "Daily Telegraph" revealed that England coach Gareth Southgate made a decision that is not without risk, in order to confront the danger of the brilliant Spanish winger Lamine Yamal.
The two teams will meet on Sunday night in Berlin, in an anticipated European Championship final.
According to the newspaper, Southgate will push Luke Shaw into the left-back position instead of Kieran Trippier, to confront the runs and skills of Yamal, the 17-year-old candidate to win the title of best player in the tournament.
It was expected that Trippier would be the player tasked with monitoring Yamal, as the Newcastle United defender has started all six of England's matches in the tournament so far.
But as "Daily Telegraph" reported, Trippier will start on the bench against Spain, while Shaw, the Manchester United player, will be tasked with monitoring Yamal.
It is worth noting that Shaw has not started any match since last February, so the newspaper considered pushing him into the starting lineup in a major final a big risk, especially against a player like Yamal.
