A man forgets his wife on the road and returns to her 100 miles later
An unlucky husband left his wife behind after stopping to relieve herself and drove 100 miles (160 km) before realizing she was not sleeping in the car as he thought.
The couple, Bontum Chaimon, 55, and Amnoi Chaimon, 49, left at 3 a.m. to drive all night to her hometown in the Thai province of Maha Sarakham.
But Bontum had to stop at night to relieve himself, and he did not want to wait to get to the gas station, despite his wife's complaints, so instead he parked the car on the side of the road.
But the wife decided that she also needed to go to the toilet, and ventured into the forest to relieve herself.
Her husband apparently did not realize that she had gotten out of the Isuzu pickup truck. When she returned to the road, the car was nowhere to be seen, and she was left stranded in the dark.
Amnaway, who has a 26-year-old son from her 27-year marriage to her unlucky husband, had no money and her phone was in her bag in the car, so she decided to start walking in the hope of finding someone to help her.
I was able to find a police station after an arduous journey of 13 miles to reach the center of Kabin Buri at around 5 am.
Once she arrived, the wife begged the police to help her find her husband. However, she could not remember his number, and officers were unable to find him.
They then tried to call her phone, calling her 20 times, but Bontom failed to notice it in his car as he happily drove forward, unaware of the panic he had caused his wife.
By the time he realized his mistake at 8 a.m., Bontum had reached Korat Province, 100 miles from his wife's location, so he had to return to get her.
When asked how he managed to drive all this way without noticing her absence, the husband said he was sure she was in the back seat asleep the whole time.
