Barcelona wins over Bilbao

Barcelona achieved a difficult victory over its guest, Athletic Bilbao, 1-0, in the tenth round of the Spanish Football League.

Barcelona played the match in the absence of a good number of first-line players, most notably its Polish top scorer Robert Lewandowski, its Brazilian winger Rafinha, the Dutchman Frankie de Jong, and Pedri.

On the other hand, Athletic Bilbao, led by former Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde, was forced to make a modification to its starting lineup in the last seconds before the start of the match after the injury of its veteran midfielder Ander Herrera, so he was replaced by Iñigo Ruiz de Gallarita.

Bilbao's first opportunity was when Inaki Williams was alone with Barcelona's goalkeeper, German Marc-Andre ter Stegen, but the latter brilliantly blocked Williams' shot in the fourth minute.

On the other hand, the Catalan team's attempts were relatively timid and did not create any danger to the Basque team's goal.

Shortly before the end of the first half, the Barcelona goalkeeper intervened again to block Williams' attempt.

Barcelona's performance improved in the second half, and its young winger, Lamine Jamal, who came on as a substitute, almost gave it the lead, but he did not invest well in investing a perfect ball by Portuguese Joao Felix (65).

Then Barcelona coach Xavi brought in the young man Marc Goyo (17 years old) instead of the unsuccessful Fermin Lopes, and after one minute the substitute (Goyo) took advantage of a forward ball from Joao Felix and shot into the goal (80), giving “Barca” an expensive victory and three valuable points.

With this victory, Barcelona raised its score to 24 points in third place in the league table, while Bilbao's score froze at 17 points in sixth place.
