Musk announces new additional services on X

new additional services on X

Elon Musk, owner of the social networking site X, formerly known as Twitter, said on Friday that the company will launch two new levels of subscriptions for users.

Musk added that the first level will be "at a lower cost with all the features, but there is a heavy presence of ads," while the other will be "more expensive, but contains no ads."

X announced this week that it would begin a test charging users $1 per year in New Zealand and the Philippines to “post and interact with other posts.”

The company said it is part of a program designed to combat spam and bot activity, and those who unsubscribe will only be able to read posts.

It is unclear whether the $1 annual subscription is one of the two new subscription levels that Elon Musk is referring to.

The social media company already has an $8-a-month subscription service called X Premium, which allows subscribers to get the blue tick on their accounts, in addition to other features, such as the ability to edit the post.

Since acquiring Twitter in October 2022 and rebranding it as X, Musk has made sweeping changes, including making cuts to trust and safety staff and removing the blue check mark from unpaid accounts.
